Hello, it is more likely you are using the Gutenberg editor or the plugin is not activated on the site. In the first case, you need to locate the WPBakery Page Builder button, hit it and the layout of the page will change, allowing for switching to the classic editor and perform the duplication. In the second case, go to plugins and make sure you activate the plugin. Then, go to the WPBakery Page Builder Settings on the Dashboard and make sure you activate the Page Builder on post type you are trying to edit. Last but not least, using the WPBakery Page Builder settings, you can completely deactivate the Gutenberg editor, which might be convenient if you are not planning to use it to deploy on your site.

There is always the document fragment which isn't part of the active document tree structure, so you can do some lightweight manipulations there before appending to the DOM. See the docs: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/DocumentFragment. You might also want to check the concept of a VirtualDOM, as it is used by libraries like React for even faster DOM manipulations.

Hello Adele, In WordPress 5.5, a migration tool known as jquery-migrate is no longer be enabled by default. This may lead to issues with several JS-driven functions, both on admin panel and frontend, as lots of plugins are using deprecated code that needs to be fixed. Sooner or later, the majority of themes & plugins will adapt to this change, while some of them that are no longer maintained might not. The good news is that you can find this removed migration tool, as a separate plugin, here: wordpress.org/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/ . As the author says: "this plugin serves as a temporary solution, enabling the migration script for your site to give your plugin and theme authors some more time to update, and test, their code.". So, until the time is right ( probably within a couple of months from now ), you can temporarily install/activate this plugin. Note, that it is not guaranteed that will solve ALL issues, but this is the way to go for the moment.

If the theme you are using, uses (and loads) the jQuery library, then yes you can write jQuery code too in this way. Otherwise, you might need to load jQuery yourself. You can even add a script tag loading the jQuery library and then another script tag with your custom code, if the theme does not load jQuery by default. Just like in the second example in this video, with the Moment.JS library, you can load jQuery from the CDN. Hope this helps.
